The influence of the microstructural properties on the acoustic performances was also investigated. It was shown that a direct link exists between the thermal characteristic length of the Johnson-Champoux-Allard model and the average pore diameter in the studied open-cell metallic foams. The results show that the smart design of acoustical materials can be deemed attainable with these new materials. ER -
