This metric characterized the strength attribute of the human auditory response in terms of the perception sounds ranging from quiet to loud. The study focused on developing an approach that calculated the time varying loudness using the multi-look model that was considered to be able to better process human perception characteristics excluded from other proposed models. The multiple loop method was based on a short time constant process of 2-3 ms where decisions were based upon selected looks to overcome the deficiencies of the existing unsteady loudness calculation techniques.
