The approach relies on the FEM methodology in modeling the structural dynamics but utilizes the analytical response-functions-based ideology for the fluid domain, providing the advantage of being able to handle complex geometries that are outside of the capabilities of the traditional analytical or semi-analytical approaches, but at the same time possessing the computational efficiency that is higher than common FEM fluid-structure interaction codes.
