Abstract

A five-point microphone array has been developed for encoding an acoustical event with both horizontal and vertical imaging capabilities. Experimental results show that the proposed system has the ability to represent overhead sounds to some controllable degree. Overhead sounds may be perceived even without a sound source above the listener.
