Abstract

The study of noise control and noise control design of Crawler Transporter system, for use in a shuttle vehicle program was discussed. The noise sources in the system included electric generators, engine sets, and hydraulic machinery. The measuremnents of a fully loaded working crawler were taken during a rollout without interfering with its operation for the noise control design under fully loaded conditions. The noise control measures included ventilation and radiator fan noise control, isolation of hydraulic lines, upgraded engine exhaust mufflers and engine house acoustical treatments.
