Abstract

Vibro-acoustic behavior of multi-layer orthotropic panels was discussed. A general eigenvalue approach based on wave theory was presented to compute the dispersion curves of panels. The radiation efficiency, the modal density and the group velocity were computed using these curves, and were used to predict the transmission loss of the panels. Results showed that at low frequencies the effect of bending dominates while at high frequencies shearing became significant.
