The physical modeling techniques used to simulate the acoustic GuQin, a Chinese traditional musical instrument, are discussed. The digital sound synthesis in GuQin is modeled using Karplus-Strong algorithm. It is stated that the strong and clear sound for the important notes of GuQin can be produced using Karplus-Strong synthesis. The pick position simulation results obtained using comb filter is found to be accurate in mimicing the effect of plucking a string at varying distances from the bridge of GuQin.Downloads
