Abstract

The causes for the lack of statistical analysis in acoustics and recommendations to provide more meaningful results were discussed. Random error, affects the variability of the measured values. The International Organization for Standarization (ISO) has issues a directive, that no standard should be produced unless it contains a section regarding the determination of the uncertainty of the measurement. The uncertainty should be determined when the results are close to limit sets by regulating authorities.
