Abstract

This paper identifies the acoustical requirements for multifunctional urban school gymnasia and discusses the lack of acoustic guidelines in achieving this objective. The requirement of compromise in determining such a criterion is also discussed in the light of recent ANSI standards. An alternative practical criterion for acceptable reverberation levels is established. The supporting case studies, measurements, analysis and discussions are presented.
