Relationships between quantitative and qualitative aspects of sounds: Case of acoustic radiation from a plate

Résumé

The influence of the mechanical parameters of a rectangular steel plate on its acoustic behavior was studied using quantitative and qualitative analysis. The effect of the variations in the mechanical parameters on sound perception was examined. The parameters considered are the density, Young's modulus and the plate thickness. The vibroacoustic response was numerically simulated for each of the parameters. Sounds were synthesized from the calculated spectra by inverse Fourier transform. The sound radiation modification does not affect the perception of distances. The boundary conditions for other structural parameters are also carried out.
