Accuracy in the localization of sperm whales resident in the strait of gibraltar using one hydrophone

Des etudes visuelles en surface dans le Detroit de Gibraltar montrent que les grands cachalots (Physeter macrocephalus) et plusieurs especes de dauphins partagent leurs territoires de chasse. Une methode de localisation par acoustique passive utilisant un hydrophone à une profondeur inconnue a ete utilisee ici, afin d’estimer la profondeur de chasse des cachalots, et prouver un eventuel partage de la colonne d’eau entre les differentes especes. Les cachalots poursuivis dans le Detroit de Gibraltar chassent dans la partie inferieure de la colonne d’eau.Fichiers supplémentaires
