Résumé

The design of a classroom for deaf/hearing impaired student educators is discussed. The subjective feedback of users is consistent with a bias in the design towards a hearing impaired listeners. The major factor contributing to the perceived low signal levels are due to reduced strong early reflections. The issues associated with ventilation and dust as related to acoustics/noise control, highlights the importance of a holistic design approach and coordination among all of the designers and users.

Author Licensing Addendum

This Licensing Addendum ("Addendum") is entered into between the undersigned Author(s) and Canadian Acoustics journal published by the Canadian Acoustical Association (hereinafter referred to as the "Publisher"). The Author(s) and the Publisher agree as follows:

  1. Retained Rights: The Author(s) retain(s) the following rights:

    • The right to reproduce, distribute, and publicly display the Work on the Author's personal website or the website of the Author's institution.
    • The right to use the Work in the Author's teaching activities and presentations.
