A study was carried to understand the role of in-flight localizations of the Chimney Swift - Chaetura pelagica, in animal acoustics. Chimney swift is extremely vocal while in flight, but the full vocal repertoire of the bird has yet to be recorded. The study aimed to catalogue full vocal array. Audio and video recordings of the bird while in-flight were obtained from June to October 2005. Visual recordings were made using two digital cameras. The majority of call sequences were obtained while the birds prepared for entry into their roost at dusk or left their roost at dawn, indicating variability in calls.
