Abstract

The vibrational characteristics of harp soundboards, which are wooden shells with holes, was investigated. The soundboards were scanned by measuring the driving point admittance at many points along the axis of symmetry where the strings are attached. The admittance was measured using a small, light accelerometer and an impact hammer. The contour plot showed the results for the admittance, where frequency is plotted against vertical position on the soundboard, and is represented by shading observed. The study help in understanding of the vibro-acoustic behavior of a modern harp soundbox.
