The author discusses the acoustic analysis of restarts in spontaneous speech, from the point of view of their automatic location via acoustical analysis. A large database of spontaneous speech was analyzed in terms of duration and fundamental frequency measurements, as well as spectral analysis. For recognition purposes, a simple spectral analyzer was used to identify repeated words
