Résumé

Almost all commercial circumaural headsets incorporating active noise reduction (ANR) employ feedback control with fixed filters and analog signal processing. This combination provides, at best, a conditionally-stable device. However, inconsistent control of environmental noise results from air leaks in the seal between the earmuff and the head. The potential of improving speech communication and reducing noise-induced hearing loss in an ANR handset using adaptive feedforward control is presented.
