Résumé

The links between the microstructural properties of the metal foams and their acoustic properties were investigated. The influence of the microstructural properties on the acoustic performances was also investigated. It was shown that a direct link exists between the thermal characteristic length of the Johnson-Champoux-Allard model and the average pore diameter in the studied open-cell metallic foams. The results show that the smart design of acoustical materials can be deemed attainable with these new materials.
