The results on the detectability and severity of several sound leaks in closed rooms and speech privacy measurement, are presented. The method establishes a uniform sound field inside the closed room using multiple source positions and white noise test signals. The level difference are an objective measure of the architectural sound insulation to each listening position. The Speech Privacy Index (SPI) is calculated, which is shown to be correlated with responses of listeners in intelligibility tests. The results of the new speech privacy measurement for the base case of no intentional leaks are indicated by the grayscale plots. The SPI is found to be greater than -16 dB at almost all locations, corresponding to conditions above the threshold of intelligibility. The new speech privacy measurement procedure can identify the presence, location, and severity of localized sound leaks in a test wall.Additional Files
