The Evolution of the Acoustics of a Medieval Church

Cet article présente l'étude de l'intervention pour la correction acoustique d'une église médiévale, la cathédrale de Carinola en Italie. L'église étudiée construite sur le site où existait une église paléochrétienne, a été achevée entre le XIV et le XV siècle. Les matériaux durs, y compris un sol en marbre et des murs en plâtre dur, rendent son temps de réverbération de près de 5 secondes. à basse fréquence et plus de 3 sec. aux fréquences moyennes, entraînant une mauvaise compréhension de la parole. Comme cela est courant dans le patrimoine religieux antique, les interventions d'amélioration acoustique ont été remises en question par le refus d'utiliser des matériaux insonorisants conventionnels pour des raisons esthétiques et architecturales. L'intervention visait à raccourcir le temps de réverbération en remplaçant le plâtre par du plâtre insonorisant. Les résultats de la simulation acoustique sont rapportés et l'homogénéité des paramètres acoustiques à travers le plan d'étage est discutée.
