Abstract

The duty cycle for commercial HVAC equipment has been the subject of various speculative estimates.  It is significant because it determines the amount of sound a unit emits in the assessment time period.  In Ontario, the predictable worst-case operation is needed for daytime and nighttime.  A number of units were evaluated during the warmest summertime period to better understand their actual operation.  Initial results are presented from evaluation of duty cycle for units in hotel, restaurant and retail uses.
