La révision 2024 de la norme ISO 9613-2, largement utilisée au Canada pour l’évaluation du bruit environnemental, a introduit des modifications concernant l’atténuation par barrière (Abar) et la correction météorologique (Cmet). Les comparaisons avec l’édition de 1996 montrent que la nouvelle version peut prédire des niveaux sonores jusqu’à 10 dB plus élevés à grande distance, ce qui soulève des préoccupations quant à une possible surestimation du bruit et à ses répercussions sur la conformité réglementaire et les coûts d’atténuation. En réponse aux préoccupations exprimées par les praticiens et l’industrie, le groupe de travail de l’ISO a entrepris un processus d’amendement visant à rétablir temporairement les formulations originales de Abar et Cmet, en attendant l’élaboration d’une solution à plus long terme. Cet article présente les enjeux associés à la révision de 2024 et résume les travaux en cours au sein de l’ISO pour y répondre.
